Our work

Everyday essentials. Local care.

Our Community Essentials Program brings together direct outreach, food-bank support, and seasonal comfort and hygiene assistance across Metro Vancouver.

Community Essentials Program

Three connected ways to help

Poverty affects daily life in different ways. Our activities are designed to respond with useful items people can eat, drink, wear or use for personal care.

01

Neighbourhood outreach

Prepared meals or sandwiches, fruit, bottled water and sealed snacks offered directly at selected community locations. On cold or rainy days, outreach may also include hot coffee or hot chocolate.

02

Food-bank support

Shelf-stable foods such as canned fish, lentils, beans, peas and other requested staples purchased for established food banks serving Vancouver and Richmond.

03

Seasonal comfort & hygiene

Soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, menstrual products and suitable new socks or seasonal clothing offered according to need and available resources.

Food-bank support

Helping trusted local services stock useful staples

Food banks already understand the needs of the communities they serve. Antares can support that work by purchasing shelf-stable products the receiving organization is able to accept and distribute.

This activity helps turn community support into practical pantry staples while working through an established local service.

Comfort and personal care

Hygiene essentials support confidence and dignity

Personal-care products are easy to overlook, but they are part of daily health, comfort and social participation. Depending on available resources, kits may include soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, deodorant, menstrual products and clean new socks.

During colder or wetter periods, we may also include weather-appropriate new items and warm drinks alongside an outreach activity.

A respectful experience

Assistance without pressure

People receiving ordinary outreach items can choose what is useful to them, subject to available supplies. Assistance is not tied to membership, class enrolment, religious participation, publicity consent or a contribution.

We begin with a manageable monthly activity and adjust the mix of food, drinks, hygiene products and seasonal items to conditions, available support and community need.

Help shape the next activity.
